Course Introduction: |
IWC Wine Appreciation I is the most complete introductory wine course for the contemporary wine consumer. |

Course Approach: |
IWC Wine Appreciation I is designed to provide the most comprehensive foundation for wine tasting at all levels both professional and social. IWC Wine Appreciation
I focuses on refining your sensory evaluation techniques as well as
developing sensory awareness. |

Pre-requsites: |
A passion for wine. |
|

Topics: |
IWC Wine Appreciation I will examine the origins of the main tastes and styles in wine and how we can recognize them. |
|
|
Timing: |
The IWC Wine Appreciation I involves 6 contact hours spread over four weeks. In addition, students are expected to taste at least five different wines between classes. |

Assessment: |
Continuous class assessment. |
|
|
Study Progress: |
Upon successful completion of the IWC Wine Appreciation I, students will receive IWC Award Certificate and can progress to IWC Wine Appreciation II. |

- Understanding sweetness, sourness, saltiness and astringency.
- Blind smelling of spices and fruits.
- Focused tasting to illustrate these sensations.

However, the increasing global popularity of this grape also means that there are lakes of mediocre and homogeneous liquid undeservedly trading behind the Chardonnay label.
