Neal Martin

Born in the underrated vintage of 1971 in Essex, I suffered a hard childhood reared on Liebfraumilch. I commenced working for a Far Eastern exporter where my responsibility was wine and for ten years I specialized in the top Bordeaux and Burgundy growers during which time I tasted intensively, passing my Wine Diploma in 2001. I launched a website, www.wine-journal.com in June 2003 that was phenomenally successful, so much so that a phone call from Robert Parker led to us collaborating from 2006. Since then, Wine-Journal has continued as an independent part of his website and The Wine Advocate. The articles were short-listed for a Louis Roederer Award in 2009. Over the last couple of years I have written for Decanter, The World of Fine Wine and several lifestyle publications, contributed chapters to the 7^th edition of Parker Wine Buyers Guide, acted as a panel chair for the International Wine Challenge in London and judged at Australian Wine Shows in Coonawarra and Margaret River. I will soon finish my first self-published book on Pomerol, which is intended to be the first covering the whole of Bordeaux.
